Early Life and Education

Nancy Fraser was born on May 20, 1947, in New York City. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Bryn Mawr College in 1968 and her Ph.D. in philosophy from the New School for Social Research in 1980.

Academic Career

Fraser is the Henry and Louise A. Loeb Professor of Philosophy and Politics at the New School for Social Research. She is also a member of the editorial board of the journal "Constellations."

Theoretical Contributions

Fraser's work has focused on critical theory, feminist theory, and the intersection of social justice and capitalism. She has made significant contributions to the understanding of the relationship between gender, class, and race.

Recent Work

In her recent work, Fraser has continued to explore the relationship between capitalism and democracy. She has also developed a theory of "participatory parity," which argues that all citizens should have an equal opportunity to participate in political decision-making.
